I have a watchman goby, it's new, a fewa days old.

Its eyes are cloudy, and one is larger than the other. I didn't notice this when I got it. Anyone know what that could be, and what could be the cause?

Also, I got a fireshrimp at the same time, and it died the first night. ????

I got a firefish, and coral banded shrimp the same day, and they are both doing fine.

That generally means bad water quality. The larger eye is commonly referred to as Pop eye, and the cloudyness is due to a bacterial infection. What are the water quality results? Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH, salinity? Shrimps (especially fires and cleaners) will not tolerate anything but perfect water so that is probably why he died. I would suggest doing a 50 percent water change either today or tomorrw and then do another 50 percent water change 2 days from now. Anyway, hope this helps.

yeah

that does help.

the alkalinity is high. ammonia is 0. nitrates are around 5ppl. ph is between 8.3-8.4.

how does one reduce the bacterial infection and pop eye?

i will do the water changes as recommended.

In my experience at working at fish stores, just lots of water changes and keeping good water quality and in time the pop eye will go down and the bacterial infection will go away.
