I have a 75 gallon open top with cardinals, rummy noses, prisellas, threadfin rainbows, ottos, and red cherry shrimps and so far none of them have jumped out.
Oh and I have 2 cats that havent jumped in either. They just tried to do some aquaescaping when I first set up the tank but they got bored of after some time.
I forgot to mention: I do have some floating plants covering about 30% of the surface area.

I have an open top tank with a betta, some cherry shrimp and some tetras, noone so far has escaped. however i have to top up the tank about every week due to evaporation. :/
I have a sliding glass cover, which is kind of a pain when doing maintenance. I actually like the look of open tops, but don't really want my keyholes bailing.
