Hi everyone!

I had a black skirt tetra that had a swollen eye a couple of weeks ago so I set up a hospital tank to help it heal. I went away for the weekend last week and when I came home it had laid a sack of eggs. But because she was alone, her mate couldn’t fertilize the eggs. So I cleaned out the eggs who had grown a fuzzy layer and did a water change to the tank and added he mate.

Just yesterday I noticed that the female seems to be opening and closing her mouth very rapidly as if she was panting. I heard that this could mean that she is ready to lay eggs again but I’m not sure if she is sick again.

Would anyone happen to know what’s going on with my fishy?

If she's gasping at the surface then I'd worry, but otherwise it's probably ok.

i agree, but it could be if something else
if it continues for a while, and nothing happens then it is probably just okay

Tetras don't lay eggs in sacs. They scatter individual eggs over the tank decor. They sound more like snail eggs.
