Posting an attachment made with googles picasa, pretty neat.

Im wondering if my live rock will become more alive down the road.
Curing it turned it all white, now a little green is comming back, alot of fuzzy red, almost hairy. When I recieved the rock it was full of growth, will it return? or did I kill 75pounds of live rock?
Im adding superbuffer-dKH, liquid calcium, molybdenum+strontium and tech-I.

In tank

I cured it in my main tank as I set everything up, in saltwater, proper temp. 2 powerheads a skimmer and filter, i brushed the LR with a brush to get rid of brown gunk, and after a week or so i kinda shook all the loose stuff off, took LR out of tank, cleaned tank, mixed new water, added aragonite sand "cured" and added LR, over the next 2 weeks or so it turned white on me.

yep, you completley **** up your live rock :) But if it is getting better now then it should be ok.

Cursing is not allowed. Finding ways around the filters is a no-no. OG

Ahhhh crap!

I believe I did everything the way I read/was told to do?

****ing up is ok, its a huge learning experience, but could you specify how?
And is there any way of making the best of it/improving now?
Add 25p new LR?

Any lighting on there? If so, how much, how long? What is sounds like it that the coralline algae was deprived of light, so it bleached. Very common, and certainly not a problem--the algae is still a live, just a different color (think of grass bleaching if it's covered up for a while). The color will return, and many of the other organisms will likely return--they send roots into the rock, and emerge when conditions are again beneficial.

light

This is what I bought.
Coralife Lunar Aqualights Compact Fluorescent Strip Lights (48")

I have a Xenia that is not doing too hot, but I think water temps has had a bigger impact on it shrinking that the light.
I ended up buying a chiller to be able to bring the temps down from 86f even before summer time. now it swings between 76f & 78f, and no, it is not in the sun ;) just in a warm room without air movement.

I againt recommendations ran the light in the cycle I wanted to set it up with eventually, to learn mostly about heat impact and so on. So it should not have been deprived of light :help:
Color is returning, and I realize it is still a very young aquarium, so im hanging in there and all. But I think my concern is about how smooth the LR is instead of tiny growth everywhere.

How many watts is that lights? The double strips will still be pretty low light range for most corals, and xenia does best under at least 4 wpg.

Two 65 watt 10,000K and two 65 watt True Actinic 03 Blue straight pin base compact fluorescent lamps.

So im halfway there.....

I'd defintely plan on upgrading lights before purchasing any more corals. I have the same setup on a FW planted tank, and it's barely enough to keep lower light plants happy--I wouldn't even attempt anything more than mushrooms in SW. SOrry, I know that sucks, but the lighting just isn't really enough for a deep tank.
