Opinion on a Pleco

Keep it or return it

Heres the story - Yesterday, I went to my lfs and bought a pleco that caught my eye. They said it was an adonis pleco so I bought it for 55 dollars. I go home and research about the adonis and find out two things I didn't like: 1) they lose their spots over time and 2) they become huge, large, spikey, and ugly. So this made me think about returning it. Today, I find out it is actually not an adonis but a vampire pleco. And i find out vampires grow to about 10 inches and keep their nice lookingness. I also found out that vampire plecos cost less than adonises so i called my lfs up, told them about the screw up and they said they can only give full refund.

What should I do - keep the pleco bought for 55 or return for full refund and then try to get gold nuggets or king pleco?

Also, if you know how much a vampire pleco goes for around your area, please state it because I am not sure if I am losing or gaining money here. Thanks!
 
well i dont know the price or anything but how big is your tank?
 
well a 55 right now but the pleco is like barely 4 inches so I still has some growing to do

I mean seriously, why do they have to be like that. It's their screw-up, not yours. I will say that although I don't know the going rate for a vampire pleco around here, I'd skip the gold nugget. I've found them to be difficult to keep, despite their high price tag. JM2C.

i would return it and get a pleco that dosent get as big because you will have to get rid of it in the feature and get no money back so might as well get a small pleco that will stay small and get to keep it
 
How much is it usually? Im looking around online and i see it for like 30 - 35 dollar range. I bought it for 55 thats like 20 dollar loss and i know my lfs is expensive
 
Return it and accept the lesson to research FIRST.
 
I would return it since they sold you the wrong thing in the first place. Get all of your money back and then you can buy the pleco that you really want. Of course do your research first and do not be in a real hurry to buy something. It is the impulse buys that get us into trouble and believe me we all do it.
