Opinion on Cookie pricing?

Wow, those are all really great ideas everyone!

Hah, thanks BFM, I am glad you like my cookies! :)

I would say overall, pricing is not much different between Canada & the States for things like this.. but you are all right, it definately makes a difference depending on how big my client base is so I can make/buy in bulk. I figured I would start making bulk batches and freeze them, so for every order I just need to pull out a small ball of dough that was pre-made.. and I can also keep icing in different colours in the freezer too.

I thought maybe I would start with some Valentines day cookies.. so maybe that is a good idea to package them up individually with cards attached and sell them at my desk or something.. (provided my bosses are okay with that..).

Also., good idea to check with local coffee shops, funny I never thought of that. I will go check some out and see what they have to say..

Wow, so many things to think about..

Hah.. I never thought about shipping them off to AC'ers.. funny! Once I get everything figured out, maybe there will be some present in the mail! ;)

I used to send cookies to friends from another website. Free, just as a means of getting rid of them, or as gifts (secret santa, birthdays, etc). It was fun, but got to be expensive--more for shipping than the cookies. Flat rate priority works great.

I can see your ad in the classified here now:FS/FT cookies for sale or will trade for plants, fish or inverts. A heart cookie for a bleeding heart tetra, x-mas tree cookie for x-mas tree moss!

HAHA that would be awesome. I would love to buy a batch if i didn't have to pay for shipping. Those cookies look very professional. Great job.

HAA HAA.. that's a great idea!! =) I even have some fishy cookie cutters, I would totally trade fish cookies for fishies! :grinyes:

Good tip on flat rate shipping.. I guess if it picks up enough I would get to that point. Hah, right now I am still trying to figure out how to package them up. I guess I need to look at the Dollar Store for small boxes..

And thanks for the compliments!! :)

Find a restaurant supply store instead. Baking boxes are much better, and usually way cheaper than anything you'd find at the Dollar store. Even flat styro trays with plastic wrap would be good for local sales.

I never pondered selling iced cookies, so I used a variety of options. Martha Stewart has a couple of pre-made box options that are really easy to use. I also looked at the chinese-style boxes. They're pretty spacious, and sturdy enough to protect the cookies.

Those cookies do look mighty good ara...what I would give for one right now :)

Should definitely check the local laws, out here it is prohibited to sell any homemade foods out of your house as well as advertising for it without a license.
