Opinions on Sand Please

im a big fan of sand. i tried to go back to gravel after moving, hated it, and switched back to sand. it's really no more difficult to keep clean, in fact it's easier since waste doesn't sift in between the gravel...but i would say it requires more frequent maintenance to avoid the look of a fish waste-laden substrate.

I'll agree w/Joe on Onyx sand - Seachem gives the range of particle sizes as 1-5mm., so it straddles the sand/gravel dividing line (which is at 2mm, BTW), but is primarily small gravel and an ideal particle size for planted tanks.

If it were darker, I'd use it.

I sometimes wonder how that would look... Wonder if SeaChem has though about "making" in true black in color?
