Orange Turbo Snails?

Once you get a snail they never go away!!undefinedundefinedundefined

Your thinking of freshwater snails, wich by the way are very benificial for your tank. I have never once heard of marine snails breeding in captivity.

Sorry, can't comment on the orange turbo's.

Cerith snails breed in captivity all the time. Mine (well at least before most of the them were wiped out a few weeks ago when my heater went nuts) lay eggs in beautiful patterns on the glass every so often. Occassionally, I see baby ceriths about at night.

I've even seen one of my Nassarius snails lay a small line of eggs on the glass.

Yup, Crown is right on this one. The rest of them breed in tanks all the time to it's just that the larvae have a period of time when they are planctonic and they tend to get chopped into bits by your impeller blades. You could grow em out in a ten but, it would be a lot of work and probably not worth the $ unless you were just curious of course.

Back to the original question... You probably have these. They are great for the tank, really do a good job cleaning, and arent huge like the mexican turbos that plow over your coral. Plus they are colorful!

Here is a small snail that was maybe 2 mm. I had literally hundreds of these guys all over the rock and glass. As you state, they didn't last but maybe 3 months then they all disappeared. I am guessing they were eaten by the olives when they retreated back to the sand or some other snail like the nasarrius ate them.
