I have been cycling my 55 gallon for about two weeks using the fishless method. However, I am already tired of waiting. So, I ordered Biospira on yesterday. They will ship on Monday and I should receive on Wednesday. I will test that it is working by adding ammonia. If the ammonia levels drop within 24 hours, I will test again, then I will add fish.

Here is what I am thinking of stocking with:

2 angels
12 cardinals
1 red tailed shark
3 panda corys

Does this look ok? Any suggestions? I'm trying to have fish that will occupy all levels of the aquarium. And, I wanted one good schooling fish. Thanks!!

I think the list sounds good, but there is a chance that the cardinals could become angel food. I think the cardinals get bigger than neons though right? Do you plan on being fully stocked with that list? I would say you are, but I would add a 3-5 more corys. You have room for them and they'll like the bigger group. Make sure you have several good caves/hiding spots for the shark

I would say get bigger schooling fish because your cardinals WILL get eaten either by the angels or maybe even the shark. Other than that it sounds good. Sounds like its gonna be a great tank ;)

Cardinals grow to 2". One of the larger tetras you can get. I personally think Cardinals will be perfectly fine. By the time the Angels get anywhere close to big enough to eat them anyway they will be so used to them it won't matter. The shark may give them crap when he gets bigger but not the Angels.

Just a little warning do NOT add your full fish load like the bio-spira package says. Bio-spira helps but it doesn't insta cycle the tank and there seems to be alot of bad bio spira out there. I tried adding a full fish load with bio-spira and I still had about a .75 amonnia and nitrite spike. It will take about a week to finish the cycle. I would add half the tetra and the shark first or just add the bio spira and continue with the fishless cycle, it should shorten the cycle up alot.
