Was wanting a couple smaller pcs of LR to pile up in the front of my tank. So i got to looking for somewhere online cause i'm having a hard time getting the pcs i want. I guess i could just buy a big rock and break it but i found on drfostersmith site a nano pack with 16#s LR from fiji, tonga and indo. My question is this...Has anyone ordered LR from here before? If so, is the LR as good as it sounds? Lots of color/life? heres a link to the rock.

Got 90 pounds of cured Fiji from there. Decent rock in terms of shape and whatnot. Came with no color and I've yet to see any pods and I have had 90 pounds of their rock since hmmmm July or August maybe? So it hasn't been a long time, but I would have liked to have been able to find some LR in this area already cured with color and pods. I have feather dusters (the mini kind) on quite a few. No bad things, nonetheless. Great customer service, though. I would like to be able to order small amounts from a few places to see if any of it comes looking in better shape with less scrubbing for me to do despite it being cured. It's getting Coralline algae on it, but the normal purple.

The LR from DFS is not cured, no matter what they say. I ordered 30lbs of their Premium, cured LR & got 1 huge 20lb piece, 3 smaller pieces & some rubble. If you already have lR in your tank, the cheapest way to go is to by dry Marco rocks. Their Fiji looks like Marshall Island. It is bare rock but it will seed with a couple pieces of Coraline encrusted liverock and you will save alot of money and without the pain of unwanted hitchhikers & wind ip with some beautiful rock.

If you have no rock in your tank, go to www.reefcentral.com & see if you have a local reef club near you. Rolks are always selling off rock for cheap, from downsizing & teardowns. Totally cured, coraline encrusted & usually a few hitchiker corals on there too.

One of the things that I have noticed with any of my local LR is that none of it is colored. All of the Coraline in my tank has come from hard work and was seeded from the previous rock that existed in the system when I purchased it.. Even rock that I have purchased off of ebay came with no coraline..

:(

That's why it's best to purchase from fellow reefer's tanks! :D

I've used Premium Aquatics on a few occations and they offer a "nano" option. Not a great time to be ordering due to the cold weather. Probably have to go with overnight shipping to minimize die-off. I've gotten 2 day delivery from them in the wamer weather with good success. Nice coraline on most, some fan worms and the like.

i notice the nano option is cheaper than ordering some of the more expensive rocks.. is it better to order the expensive rock and request small pieces?

They're pretty good over there. If you tell them what you're looking for, they will accommodate you. I received one shipment (of nano) and the pcs were smaller than expected\described, i kept that rock (put it in my fuge) and they sent me another shipment with no freight charge.
