Ok here it goes:

Ok my birthday is coming up and my mom already let me get a new fish...

So i couldnt help myself and got an Oscar, i know about there growth etc, so i need a little help though.

Right Now i have him in a Ten Gallon (Hes only about an inch long, runt of his tank at the store, who is pretty reliable) with other small fish, (Minnows, two small barbs, Chinese Algae eater, and a small crawfish; please dont scold me for this) and hes acting a little funny, i got him on wendsday so its been a few days; i havent seen him actually eat yet, he was active before but now he is continuously laying on the substrate. I have been irresponsible, i am fixing this tommaro by getting a heater and tank ammonia/nitrate checking kit(s). I did cycle the tank and waited intervals for the fish. Please do not scold me for any of this, i will be repairing my responsibility.

Now, eventually i will be getting a 55 gallon for the oscar. Now that seems a little empty, i was thinking also one Green Terror as a tank mate? i will also be getting a new powerful filter so i am prepared. Also could i ad a species of Pleco??

Hi Nicili,
First of all, Happy Belated Birthday!
I hope your oscar is still a member of your new fish family.
I'm glad you have realized your mistakes..we all have made them and even the best of us will continue to make them.
You know your 10 gal tank is too small for all those fish. Maybe a 20 gal one would be better.
As for the oscar, I wouldn't plan on any tank mates. While small it would be OK, but as the O gets bigger, it will be more territorial and resent having to share it's space. Perhaps a small species of pleco, like a bristle face, give it lots of places to hide.
Green terrors are pretty cool, but they can get as big as the oscar.
Remember, do your research BEFORE you bring the fish home.
good luck,
Karen
