I have a tiger oscar, a gold severum, green severum and a common plec in a 120g tank. I'm looking to add at least one more fish to the tank whilst still fairly new. Does anyone have suggestions?
I'd prefer more new world cichlids but all suggestions welcome.

convicts, green terrors large blood parrots that have been raised with aggresive fish, large synodontis (non aggresive huge exotic catfish that tolorates cichlids and cleans well,5-6"ones only cost 20$ around here, amust) more of what you got, and so on. I highly recomend synodontis :thm: :thm:

I have had very good luck with convicts and severums
In all my casses my cons didn't bother the severums much. The main problum I have had with con is you don't want to pair them off. Cons are fine with oscars as well.

I have also had a Texas cichlid, severum oscar mix one time. Texas are a gamble. You never know how they are going to act once they age. I have had them turn on each other.

I can say the same about cons with oscars. I've got a pair in with my oscar and they get along quite well. it was hell for the first week, they were all fighting like cats and dogs for the first couple of days then they settled down, now they dont bother each other at all....

dempseys are a cool fish too

re

I like JDs too.
Just 2 weeks back I put a severum in with 2 of my demseys and the largest JD and him liplocked. I had to split them up. Now I have them all together in a large tank with my TX cichlid and with him being the alpha fish they seem to be getting along.

With your Oscar being the alpha fish you may get the same turn out. I was shocked to see my severum liplock with a Depsey. They are such calm fish. Also the reason might have been the 2 JDs were in the tank by themselves and they seemed to be getting a long pretty well.

I think under normal conditions they should be ok.
OH, I have got an IDEA for you. Get an electric Blue Jack Dempsey. They are harder to find. They are less agressive
and in my opinon a very bueatiful fish. I just got one for 35 bucks this week.

I say get rid of the Plec and get a Lace, Jaguar or Colombian Pictus Cat.
The Plec is just poop machine IMO, and depending on the type could outgrow the 120gal.
Or you can skip a bottom feeder, i.e Cat/Plec, altogether and get another nice display fish, perhaps a Sparkling Eartheater?
Or a small school of SD's to round of the tank, they would look good and as dithers/target fish would help disperse any aggression.

Other than that, IMO I'd say you have a nicely stocked tank as is and would stay with what you have currently.
