Every time I restock on hikari for my o's I buy the big bag of cichlid staple and the lil bag of cichlid gold, I feed them staple for a few days straight until the little bag of gold will fit into the now less than full bag of staple. I figure this is like 2/3 staple 1/3 gold. (I feed alot) Then every now and then they get a piece of krill or the ocasional feeder (not store bought, from my convict grow out fry) tubifex worms, meal worms, crickets. You name it and they'll eat it but varied is always best, with a staple pellet diet.
I disagree, no type of hot dog is made from a meat source that an oscar is properly equipped to digest.
Well I know a few people on MFK who feed their misc. SA & CA cichlids turkey hot dogs every now and then. It's the mammalian tissue that they have trouble digesting. Either way, I don't feed my fish hotdogs.

I don't feel comfortable with my fish eating turkey hots dogs though. I know people do it, but personally I can't imagine any kind of benefit from doing so

A good staple food like NLS supplemented with live and frozen foods. Foods such as blood worms, earthworms, mealworms, and other such meaty foods is a good choice to supplement.
