Are there any dithers that can be used with 8" O's? Just wondering :)

Well, you know the prob - that the O will chow down on anything it can catch that is small enough and slow enough not to stay out of the way.

What size tank ? A shoal of Silver Dollars can be good in a big one.

edit - is it the 125 with the 2 Oscars & catfish ?

What size tank is it?If it's your 125,your fully stocked now, maybe a little overstocked.

I agree, Silver Dollars are a good choice for dithers. If you want a cheap dither that is usually too fast to get eaten you can try Giant Danios.

I always liked using a few Geophagus, there not as skiddish as silver dollars and they clean the gravel of scraps of food..

It's not actually for any tank. I was just wondering. Things are nice and peaceful in the 125; I wouldn't change it :)

So....what's the problem with the Oscar occasionally chowing down on the dithers?

Its not particularly a problem, although some don't chose to feed live...depends on whether you propose to replace 'em continually or not, whether you're looking for a nice display fish (like the silver dollars), the fact that Oscars are such gluttons they may polish off the smaller guys just as soon as you put 'em in there.

One thing you don't want to do is put a bunch of cheapo fish sold as 'feeders' in - asking for trouble.
