Hi there just my recomendation stay away from feeder fish they are known to have parasites. thats how i lost my some fish a few years back. i always liked to give my oscars frozen beef heart, they would go nuts over it. you can put it in a cup of hot water to dissolve the cube a little. you could also try some cichlid sticks my fish always liked them, good luck

I mainly feed my oscar Hakari gold pellets. As a treat I sometimes give her blood worms but its so messy. She likes beef heart, small chunks of apple, peas, green beans. If you dont feed them for a few days they will begin to eat the pellets, thats what I had to do.

i feed mine almost exclusively pellets. I occasionally will give hima livebearer (home raised) as a treat or some diced shrimp or tilapia fillet.

;) This is from a previous post;
Dainichi is my choice pellet http://www.dainichi.com/cichlid_food_ultima.html . Supplements & treats are live earthworms, crickets & crayfish, freezedried krill, tubifex & bloodworms, frozen silversides & shrimp, fresh blanched peas & zuccini, spirulina & algae tabs soaked in VitaChem. Yes I spoil them but so far it's been worth it!! "T"
There are also a number of great homemade recepies & combos that some members have. The main thing is to establish a 'quality' pellet as the main portion (75%) of the 'O's diet. As mentioned above, steer clear of 'feeder' goldfish. "T"

my O gets a varied diet of frozen (bloodworms, 'cichlid delight', brine with spirulina), nls pellets, floating cichlid pellets (can't recall the brand right now), and some flake that is meant for the angel he lives with. sometimes i'll toss a zucchini slice in there but he's not too sure it's food yet. he's grown to 9 inches in under a year.

Mine mostly gets earthworms. I get them at Walmart in the camping section. Our store has a fridge with containers of the worms. Otherwise, he gets frozen bloodworm.

i feed my Oscars bloodworm or earth worm "live or frozen",heart beef,pellets,frozen fish slices ,frozen food i do it myself and sometimes -not usually doing that- put some home feeders fish "Gold fish or guppies but i prefer putting small gold fish coz it take that effort from my Oscar as the guppies amd i thougt that the goldfish have more fats than guppies
