oscar in 30 gallon tank

I don't know how big it'll get but it defintely will get stunted. Not good for long term health. It will be much happier in a 55 gal by itself. The oscar can get upward to a foot or more. It'll need the room to turn in the tank.

Please don't.
Fish do not grow to the size of their tank. It might live in there for a little while but it well out grow the tank. IT WELL DIE.

IT's just to big, please look for something else. There are so many other fish that would be happy in your tank. Or just get a larger tank.

This site has a great species list. Look around iam sure that you well find somthing else that well spark your intrest. Maybe a severum well be a good bet for your tank.

it will get about 7-9inches and live for 1-3 years

you cannot keep an oscar in 30 gallons ... give the fish a break and either find it a proper home or get a 75 gallon tank.
