I was looking on a local forum and I came across this post:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have an aquarium at work with 2 Oscars and a Jack Dempsey. They oscars over the last 2 months are getting eaten up around their faces. We have changed the water, we have changed the filters. I know of hole in the head but this seems like something different. We don't really know what to do about it. Any suggestions of vitamins or meds that we can put in the water. We have had them over a year and they are pretty big. We don't feed live anymore because we were told this can cause hole in the head. We haven't live fed in probably 6 months. Any suggestions would be great.

Someone suggested this website so I thought I would come here and post and see what we could come up with. If anyone has any suggestions. Please email me at ccurry@copper.net

Generally, that is caused by poor water quality - i would make sure that the water changes are large and very frequent and clean the filters very frequently too.
