As I was scanning through craigslist this morning I came accross some lady on there who had a 55g tank for sale for $150...

I was looking into it.. not a horrible deal.. and I came across something shocking

"This tank includes my 5 beloved oscars... they might need a 60 gallon eventually..."

LMAO.. I almost choked on my sandwich when I read that line-- so I called the lady

after talking to the lady for about 20 minutes trying to explain to her as politely as possible that 1 oscar alone needs more than a 55g lol... she finally agreed and desided to give me one of them

now.. I feel bad for the other 4-- but I only have room for one.. so I am taking the biggest one off her hands

he is about 13" and will go into my 75g by himself for the time being

she says he is a "Peacock Oscar".. I have never heard of such a thing.. neither has google.. so I have a feeling its a tiger oscar

im picking him up on saturday

I will post some pics of the tank tomorrow.. and then again of the oscar once I get him in the tank

A peacock oscar??? Hmmm never heard of that either. Im curious how it looks. Ill be looking forward to seeing those pics as well

yeah.... im interested to see what kind of fish it is as well

I can find no record of anyone else referring to something as a "peacock Oscar"

so my guess is its either a normal oscar... or maybe a peacock bass I guess (looks a bit similar)

after all.. this lady is definately NOT a knowledgable fish person lol

that's really generous of you. good for you :)

Thanks...

I do a lot of fish rescues in this area... as a matter of fact about 90% of my stock is rescues

I definitely know how you feel, only being able to save a few at a time. I'm stoked that others do what I do! Oh, and don't take this the wrong way, because I know others do it and I know I wasn't the first to do it. I just like to see that there are more of us!
