We have a 75 gallon tank with 2 oscars, one jack dempsey and one sucker. Recently, our oscars have been picking on the jack dempsey and banging into the heater...very wierd...anyone know why?

Probablly due to the size of the tank im guessing. Most people would suggest a 75 gal is good for a single oscar, however you hav 2 plus a jack dempsey. I think the oscars are just getting a bit rowdy because they are cramped. Also you might have a breeding pair of oscars? I have no idea, they might want to get rid of the jack dempsey? How big are the oscars? I would remove the jack and just keep your favorite of the two oscars. At least remove the JD...hope this helps...

base on the amount of research i have done on oscars, i would have to agree with dilhcic. a breeding pair would need at least a 110 and two males would need 125+gal. It might be a territorial thing since they are getting bigger and are wanting more space.

as to them attacking your heater mine does that all the time i have wondered myself why they do that, then agian he also attacks the intake tubes on the HOB filters. who knows with oscars they seem to just do their own thing.
