I know a 55 is pushing just for one oscar, but is there anything that would be compatible with a oscar in a 55 gallon?

a 55 isn't pushing it for an oscar, an oscar shouldn't be in it at all. The minimum sized tank for one is a 75 gallon.

A lot of people have success keeping Jack Dempseys with Oscars but a 55 gallon is too small for a full grown Oscar. That being said I wouldnt add anymore fish to the tank.
