Well the lfs said my water is good to go. But I think im going to set up a QT tank so it will be a couple more weeks before it sees any fish. My question is do i take water from my display for the QT? And just want to make sure of what i need for the qt tank, i have a heater powerhead and some pvc. So am i good to go. Or do i need a filter to? And by the way GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you can use water from you dispaly tank, thats fine in my opinion...

You do need a filter on there...some kind of small hob or cannister filter would be great...Everything else sounds good to me..

Cool, thanks. I got one more question for you how often do i do water changes in the QT?

I personnally do 10% water changes each day, because of the lack of good filtration in qt. Also test your water regularly as it can change quickly so you can adjust what you do to keep it a healthy environment for your fish.

Boggs its also going to depend on if the filtration system has enough of its own built up bacteria or not.. Since this is a new QT you need to test daily and based on your ammonia level decide how much of a water change you need to do.. If you need to do more than 20% what I prefer to do is in parts.. Do like a 20% add fresh salt water back in let that mix for a while and then another 20% etc. That way if your numbers are way high you aren't going to stress them out with two quick of a change.

you also need to make sure that your water that you plan on changing with is up to the same PH and temp as the tank water.
