oto cat

I keep them in pairs in 10 gallon tanks with no problems. But I have always heard the more the better with them.I don't think I would keep one as a single, especially in a 5g.They do better in a established, stable tank, and that can be difficult to do in 5 gallons.

I have had 1 oto cat in my 55 gallon for months now. I bought 3, and he is the only survivor, I have bad luck with these guys.
The 1 I have is fat and happy though, and gets along fine with the shrimp, BN Plecs, Cory's and Kuhli's :)

I tried to keep more than one in my five gallon, but one of them always died. I've read they have a high mortality rate out of the store. They get starved in shipment. The one I'vd had has been single for two years and seems to be doing fine.

I have 6 or 8 in my 125..
I always see them alone. they dont seem to school at all, or even hang out together..

I have a loner in a 37, he seems fine and happy to be a loner..

I have 6 in my 75 gallon and have 1 in my 5. The one used to be 3 but like everyone else who's tried here, the 2 wound up missing. I always seem to think this guy is gone too until he pops out of nowhere every so often... This little tank though is highly planted with natural gravel and a bridge ornament so it's a wonder I don't see him at all times.... hmmm.... now that I do think of it, I could have all 3 but only see one at a time... who knows.....
