its been a while.......


im wondering if i need to blanch any zuchinni or cucumbers for my otos? never done this before, so i would like some ideas on what i can feed them as a treat.

do the veggies need to be blanched, or can they be served raw?

I think they have to be blanched so they can get all mushy so the otos can eat them.

Or you can throw them in the microwave for a bit to soften them and place them in the tank on a fork to hold them down.

Actual blanching will remove the tiny air bubbles in them so they will sink but the current will still make them swirl around. This causes the "tumbleing plecostimus effect" which can also be entertaining.

My otos love canned, unsalted green beans. I give them one or two any time I cook with them!

mine love blanched zucchini as well as raw cucumber. i have yet to see them eat blanched lettuce.
