Ok, i'm a little confused as to the normal behaviour of my Otos. I originally bought four, but lost one the next day. He wasn't doing too good when I brought him home. Then out of the remaining three, there was one that swam constantly moving between the plants and glass eating everything. The other two just kind of hang out on my amazon sword leaves most of the day. I thought the energetic one was behaving normally, then yesterday he up and dies for no reason. I checked the water params and ammonia=0 nitrites=0 and nitrates=10. So are the other two behaving normally? Or will i prob. lose them too?

Otos can be hard to acclimate & feed, they are often starved of foods they'll eat. Could be the overactive 1 was frantically trying to find food. Try shrimp pellets, algae wafers, slightly cooked zucchini etc to see what yours will eat.

Mine mostly sit quietly on the glass, substrate (eco) or on driftwood. If they're hungry or in the mood for change mine will eat shrimp or earthworm pellets. They push right in with small loaches & 5 inch SAEs. I almost never see them on plants or on veggies, but there hard to find most of the time.

Ok, then i guess those are ok. I put some zucchini in there the other day for them. They move every once and a while from the plant to the glass to the fake driftwood i have in the middle.

I notice that my otos also freak out after I do a water change, but eventually they calm down after about a day.
