I was getting ready to package up some plants when I found two batches of eggs in them. After looking at some pics on the net (not very good ones though), I believe they are otto eggs. How long will it take these guys to hatch out? I have them in a tank of their own so there will be no predators. Man I hope they are really ottos. Does anyone have any good pics of otto eggs?

how do u know its ottos? Is that the only fish u have in the tank? I read it takes about 3 days to hatch.

But its really hard to breed them and information on breeding is hard to find.

Seems like he's not sure to me.

Congrats on the eggs!

I thought Oto breeding was fairly difficult. If you've done it, congratulations! :thm:

My only other mature pairs are cherries and zebras. From what I've read, those are scatterers. That would rule them out. I do have two bristlenose plecs but they are still babies which would have to rule them out. My mystery snails have been long gone so I can say with certainty its not them. Which would leave the ottos. There definately is not much info out there on these guys thats for sure. Was hoping someone here has good info.

I have been watching them of late (prior to the egg discovery). For the longest time, they would be pretty much to themselves not hanging out. Since I came back from traveling, I have noticed them two swimming close to each other. One is small compared to the other which is significantly larger.

I hope there otto eggs as well. I have just 5 in my 5g with 5 cherries. But noo eggs that ive seen in about a month that ive owned em' but its a JUNGLE in there. cant even see the back of the tank or the gravel just about.
