So I've had my ottos for about two weeks and I am wondering if I am seeing what would be considered "normal" behavior. All the parameters in my 55 are good; ammonia=0, nitrite=0, and nitrates <5ppm. I have a ph=7.6 and the temp is 78 F.

The ottos always seem to just be sitting on my broad leaf anubias. Of course, occassionally one with start cleaning the glass and so on but for the most part they just kind of sit there. One of major concerns I have is that I haven't seen any of them go after an algae wafer, zuccini, or crushed pea that I have put in the tank. Am I just freaking out for no reason?

Same as my otos, they don't go after algae wafers or on the glass much, but their bellies are round and have been in my tank for 3 months.

Yeah, I mean not like completely round but they look healthy........I guess I thought that maybe they would be more active? (kind of like cories?)

I'm sure they are active all night long while your Zzzzzzzzzing! Nocturnal creatures. I have a 55G in my bedroom and you don't see an oto all day long. Once the tank lights go off and I just have the TV on, you can see their white bellies against the front tank glass! Mine don't particularly care for algae wafers either although they will eat shrimp pellets.

It seems fine, so long as their bellies look round its fine. Maybe they're getting enough algae from the tank and don't need the supplements.
