I was thinking about getting 2 otto cats for my 10g, but I have zilch algae growth. I was wondering if they could live off of raw zuchinni and my regular tropical flake food?, at least until my algae growth kicks off. THX in advance for ur help

I have an oto in my 10 gallon and 2 in my 37 gallon tank. They eat algae wafers and zucchini along with any algae in the tank. I haven't tried any other foods yet.

I have 5 oto's on a 10G.
I just started feeding them zucchini a few days ago.
Only one kinda nibbled at it.
The otos have started to feed off the algae wafers that I feed the yellow labs.
Go figure.
The 10G does have an abundance of algae from 26W of light on about 10 hours a day.

Wow, 5 otos in a 10 gallon seems like a lot! I was told 1 per 10 gallon, 2 at the most! How long have you had them?

Yeah, the 10G is a bit of a quarantine tank before some of them get moved to the 60G. :)
I've had the initial 3 for about 2 months.
One died from that initial batch.
The second set of 3 I got about a month ago, and they are all alive so far.
