We added a piece of real coral to boost the PH - the PH is now 8.4 and we now have an electric blue and an electric yellow holding. We think the reganii have laid eggs also. High Ph helps with breeding of african cichlids

i wish my tank was like that

what kind of chiclids are those

The are all African Rift Lake Cichlids - Lake Tanganyika and lake Malawi. the mix was carefully chosen, based on the experience of fellow fish club members.

Lets see - in the pics,
#2 - kenyi
#3 - electric yellow (holding)
#4 - electric blue
#5 - brichardi
#6 - juliani regani and cylindricus
#7 - cylindricus
#8 - juliani regani
#9 - bumblebee
#10 - ice blue, red zebra, kenyi

We have a total of 31 fish (including 5 catfish and 1 loach) in this tank. let me try to remember - 2 kadangos and 2 OB peacocks - I think that is all the cichlids we have. It's hard to keep track. We highly over filter, do PWC 2x week, and in general pamper our fish. It is a lot of work, but it is well worth it.

And Lots and Lots of rocks!!!! A highly varied diet, an occasional live plant, snails for the loach (when my ramshorns over produce) Regular checks of the water, including PH.
