that is each persons choice...this is mine, and im not changing

I think you are taking my statements wrong. What I am trying to get at is WHY do you feel this way. You have made a choice so there has to be some reason for it. That is all I am after, not fighting but a better understanding of why and for people to understand why we do eat meat.

because I dont like the taste! I just dont WANT to eat something that was alive a few days ago!!!
im not trying to be rude... there is nothing wrong with people who eat meat... :)

So your not one of the "It's wrong to kill" people. If you just don't like it that's fine now I understand a little better.

no... i dont think its WRONG... but i do think killing horses, cats, dogs and animals like that is just plain cruel

Well by that thinking isn't it cruel when you mess something up in a tank and kill fish??? They have been proven to have nerves and feeling, 99% of the time when a fish dies in your tank it's not of old age but of less than perfect conditions. So when where people given the responsibility of deciding which animals could suffer and be killed and which should not??

Once again I am not trying to fight, I see peoples points and am mearly pointing out the flaws I see in them to try to better understand, so please don't take this as arguementative, I am just interested in this topic and am trying to explore it a little more.

OK... im a little confused... are you saying that its NOT cruel to kill pets? or it is? :o

I'm saying what is the difference between a dog, cat, horse, fish, cow, pig or any other animal. They are all living beings they all have feelings so what puts some above others and what are the guidelines for this decision.

You said that killing horses, dogs and cats was wrong in your opinion, what about any fish that have died while in your care??? Was that cruel of you or not???

uh
I love my fish, but, if they are going to die, its not like you can take them to the vet

And I wouldn't eat my dog or my cat because I love them.

And THAT is why I am against it, and the thought of it just blows my mind. They are not 'just meat'. They are more than that and you should all acknowledge that.

I wouldn't eat my dog either (or any dog for that matter), but I don't have a problem with other folks eating them as long as they're treated and slaughtered as humanely as possible, and regulated like the slaughter of other meats ....the fact that humans find certain animals cute and cuddly shouldn't make them any better off in terms of being on the food chain than those animals deemed less cuddly. I don't have a problem if folks don't want to eat an animal for moral reasons, but when Bo Derek convices a governor of the greatest state in the country to make it illegal for anyone to eat a particular animal, I have a problem with that....

But wouldn't not taking them from the wild and putting them in a glass box be more humane??? You are responsible for fish dieing, fish have feelings, so are you or are you not being cruel to these animals??? They are pets and you stated pets should not be killed, how do you explain your willingness to take an animal from the wild when it has a 99% chance of dieing of unnatural causes???

But I'm off to bed in a few so I will pick up on this tomorrow.

BTW I don't think keeping fish is cruel but I also see nothing wrong with killing ANY type of animal as long as you are going to eat it. I take this as far as to feed my dogs the parts of animals that I and my family have killed but will not eat (heads, guts, rib cages, brains...things like that). So when I kill an animal all but the load bearing bones (legs, and sometimes sholder bones) is eaten (I don't feed these bones as they can damage the teeth of my animals) by myself or my dogs.
