Our tap water has 1ppm ammonia!!!! What do we do?

My solution would be to age your water in a barrel with a live bio-filter, but that's just my favorite way to do things (the natural way) I would follow the advice of using Prime or Amquel, and find an ammonia test kit that uses two bottles of reagent rather than one. I have no experience, but have read here that the two bottle kits are capable of seperating ammonia (harmful) from ammonium (not harmful)

The more I learn about Chloramines the more thankful I am we havent switched yet.

I started using Amquel+ and Novaqua when I found out my tap water contains ammonia (chloramine).

With Amquel +, you can use the kind of ammonia test that turns green if there's ammonia and get the correct results. The kind of ammonia test that turns darker yellow will not reflect the amount of harmful ammonia present.
