Outdoor Pond Stock

I am trying to sort out stock for a half acre outdoor pond, I want to stock bluegill, channel catfish and large mouth bass. I know I need to get the catfish and bluegill established before introducing the bass, but have no idea how many of these fish I should be looking at to start off with.

I don't want the pond heavily stocked, but not sure of what number I should be going with. I have never tried to stock a pond before either, so not sure on where to look for info (most info I find is related to goldfish/koi ponds).

The amount of stocking of a pond depends on the average depth, maximum depth, geographic location, and food availability. IMO the best is to start with smaller numbers and stock the fish over a few years.

Most states' Department of Natural Resources, Fish and Game Commission, or whatever they call it will have resources available on stocking ponds with game fish. Call or email yours and see what they have to say.
