I don't think there is such a thing as over-posting on a forum unless its done simply to annoy - which is pretty obvious if it happened.
I probably post a fair bit in chunks myself...I'll always try and answer a question if I think I can, and go back and correct myself if I discover I was wrong (which happens...I'm very new).
I also get sucked into the photo forum and can't help but browse through all those tanks/fish pics, and leave a comment; we all know how much work goes into a nice set-up so I like to be supportive when someone takes the time to show us their labour of love
Also, I think posting a hello & welcome in the intros forum is a good thing to do...both those go towards post count, but as has been said post count means effectively nothing anyway.
