 I'm afraid I have to agree w/ Liv2padl & if you research most aquarium sources you'll find the recomendations close to those above. That's not to say it can't be done jagarundi (obviously you've already been successful), but is it the best for the fish?? I'll concede that the 2'O's were 'LIVING' together in the 55gl. but the 120gl. is where they're 'FLOURISHING'

almsk8s4life I applaud your rescue efforts & your seeking information. Please understand that you have a potential time bomb! Even though they are not full grown adults, aggressive fish need space. IMHO if you can't swing a larger tank then you'll need to part w/ most of those fish. All the filtering in the world won't compinsate for lack of space. Good Luck

I've always been amazed that when I view Oscars in the wild, I see two to four of them in every 4 square feet of water area.

Oscar, 70 gal each, minimum.

Ok the point is that you can keep 2 Oscars in a 55 BUT it’s not recommended so everyone stop your pissing & bit-ching you CAN keep 2. they CAN live a happy life but most DONT recommend it

lucky you, ive never seen them in the wild, only in tv, national geographic documentary about the amazon... can get pretty huge huh? it was a nice sight seeing them graze with some pacus... :dive:

I would love that Green TX Cichlid as well. Do yo live in Illinois?

I'm not sure if that's the point at all! It's pretty much been established that it 'CAN' be done --- the real point is 'SHOULD' it be done?? Is it in the best interest of the fish? In a pinch, an emergency / temporary situation, sure, do what you gotta do! But to force 2 adult 'O's (12" >) to 'EXIST' in a space barely feasible for 1 (as per recomendations) for 10 + years (estimated lifespan) seems more like punishment than "a happy life" to me. This is not an argument or "pissing & bit-ching" , it's an exchange of ideas, a difference of opinion. Sharing knowledge is what these forums are supposed to be about (chk. sig). Both the novice & the experienced hobbyist can learn from these exchanges. That's JMHO.

i live in ohio at near cleveland im sorry guys but if i do keep some of the fish after donating a majority of them to my lfs Aquarium adventures i think im going to keep only the green texas and the oscar because they seem to be the only two fish that get along well and when they do grow over maybee 2 more inches i think im going to invest in a 75gallon tank heres a pic of them just for ****s and giggles

I'll take 2 red parrots from you if they are a bright red :) I live in houston texas though, if your interested my email adress is jay733@gmail.com or you can talk to me in aim at dipp03.
