:welcome: I'm new here!

I have a 20 gallon long, semi planted tank with 4 corys, 1 dwarf gourimis, 2 adf's. I was wondering if I could add 1 dwarf chiclid, and a few more gourimis. I'm not sure what kind of gourimis to get but I know I will need some females. What would be the maximum # of gourimis that I could add, any suggestions to how to mix them would be great.

Cichilds should stay with other cichilds. They might be small now, but will become nippy. You can be safe and add more cories, but gouramis do become territorial.

Honey gouramis, do not get big.
Giant Gouramis are the biggest.

There is a dwarf gourami, but it even says grows around 2-3.

Forget the cichlids, that will not work at all.

I would also avoid putting more gouramis in, as they will start to go after each other.

You could consider putting some platies in there, or possibly a school of small tetras, danios or rasboras.

Ah, no wonder it's extremely hard to breed. Yeah, they do tend to do drive off their own from what I can see. But I do see my two dwarf neon gouramis swimming together sometimes. Maybe a pair? Haha

Wow im surprised by the results. I went to the LFS and they told me I could easily mix a pair of Rams or even a Keyhole chiclid, with a gouramis. Male female gouramis and male female chiclid would not be plausible?

At juvenile stage, fish aren't as aggressive. As they grow they get territorial. Some people have odd tanks, and they can have big fish with small fish that don't bother each other, (rare case)

I would advise that you go with a dwarf cichlid or with 2 female gouramis. You could also add 2 more cories. I don't know where all the negativity is coming from towards dwarf cichlids, as bolivian & german blue/gold rams are peaceful, as well as apistos. Really, the most agressive dwarf cichlids come are kribs & shelldwellers, and they aren't particularily agressive (unless the kribs are breeding).

you can do cichlids in there - couple of Rams or a male apistogramma.

apistos or rams are a good choice of cichlid, and either can replace the boring gouramis.

I am not sure it would be wise to keep dwarf cichlids in that small of a tank with a dwarf gourami. One or the other as previously suggested would be best.
