I have noticed that the water level in my display tank has gone down, i think my seal on the overflow box it leaking. What should i do, is there anything i can use to reseal it under water with fish in the tank?

No i have a sump, so any loss would be seen in the sump not the dt and i have an auto top-off system.

Thanks

If you are losing through the DT and not the sump, I would consider that there is a problem with the return pump not keeping up. You would see an increase in the sump level, it sounds like that isn't happening. Does the auto-fill top the tank or the sump? I top the sump as it will keep the tank full and is dependent on the pump volume and overflow volume.

What I think I am trying to say is that if the overflow is leaking you should see an increase of sump volume. Turn off the auto-fill and monitor levels. You will find your loss easier. There are epoxy's that can be used underwater without a drain-down. Most vendors carry it.

It is an easy matter to determine if there is a leak in the overflow box. Turn off your return pump, allow the overflow to drain, and observe to see if there is significant amounts of water entering the overflow box in places other than the top. If not, then I would suspect that your return pump is either inadequate or has been clogged or has something wedged in some way to reduce the amount of total flow reaching the tank. Those are the only explanations I can think of to account for what you are seeing.

I am almost sure it is the overflow box, anything i can use to reseal it under water?
