I was looking at my tank today and noticed a white spot on one of my angels tails. Thinking ich, I tore apart my old 20 gal. that I had been meaning to tear apart anyways since it had about 2 inches of stinking water left in it (haven't had time), cleaned it out completly, and set up a hospital tank.

The angel in question has one small white spot on the bottom of its tailfin and another small white spot onits left fin. Did I do the right thing isolating the angel (still very small by the way, about 1 inch), or am I overreacting?

Fish at risk must be isolated. It's good you did it. Make sure you have good water conditions in the QT tank.

Observe him for a few days, and if he develops ick, start the treatment. Keep an eye too in the other tank. If it's ick, it will be in the other tank as well.

Hope it's not serious and everything goes back to normal again.
