Alright so I picked up 2 gold gourami's for my 120. I picked the 2 that seemed the calmest in the tank where I got them from but I have a feeling the lady caught one of the more aggressive ones. Well, one is really shy to begin with and like sto chill with the plants and platy's while the other one would chase EVERYTHING till I took him out and put him in a temp 10 gallon. I figured they would both get along in a 120 with all that space but the one seems to want to lay claim to everything.

Anything I can do short of bringing him back?

Gold gouramis are notorious for being kinda grumpy. I don't really know that there is anything you can do if your tank is already heavily planted and there is lots of hiding places. You didn't mention how long you kept him in the 120. I've has some aggressive gourami that really settle down after a day or two when they work out territories, but I would be willing to bet if there are only two gourami in the tank, the dominant one will bully the other one.
Take him back or possibly get more gourami females if you can find em.

my golden gourami chases my angels, but has never nipped. He only seems to get grumpy right after eating.

Why don't you try putting him back into the 120? He may not be so aggressive now that the other gourami has had the time to establish territories in the tank. I did this with a blue gourami when I had to place a dwarf gourami in the same tank (75 g). And I only removed the blue gourami for 10 minutes. They've been buddies ever since.

Yea ill try putting the grumpy one back in tonight. The docile one has settled in and doesnt chase anyone, hes establisged his corner right by my huge plant.

I had them in there for 3 days and the one would always chase the other. Hopefully they will both now get along.

Do you know if they are male or female? If both are male....it won't get any better. If male and female, it may just be....hey baby do ya wanna! The best way for peace is to have 2 females. They usually are more docile than the males.

i think he said the aggressive one was chasing everything, not just the other gourami.
