the other day my husband brought home yet another fish i only have a 10 gallon main aquarium i know it is over stocked for sure now i told him he has to buy me a bigger tank now that he has put in a gourmi(thats what the reciept calls it ) and he also has put 3 zebra danios in my tank now i had to take one of my daughters fish out of there small tank because the other fish look as if there is mold growing off them and dont seem to be acting right i didnt want my daughters fish to get sick also my question is if i keep doing 50% water changes every other day will i be ok until my husband buys me the 44 gallon tank i have
3 zebra danios
2 mollys
2 serpaes
2 wag tail platys
1 painted platy
1 ADF
1 gourmi
1 chinese algea eater
all in the same tank my husband doesnt believe me when i tell him i am over stocked seems to think because the LFS keeps 50 fish together that it is ok for us to do the same what can i do until we get the bigger tank all my level checks are normal as of now the fish just seem more aggressive is all towards each other

i told him that he says our fish are happy together ....... as you know im never right will i be overstocked in a 44 gallon tank tho a woman is seeling one for 125 dollars with the stand in my city i am making him buy it for me since he keeps bringing home more fish

They should be ok for now.But make sure you get the 44 gal soon it's a normal thing for your fishes to get aggressive towards each other it's tight right now.I also used the I'm over stocked excuse to get me new tanks works great.

so i will be ok doing 50 % water changes every other day or do i not have to do them that often or should i do them more often i dont want to loose any fish i have become attached to all of them except the gourmi i just dont think he is cute at all with those things hanging off his chin lol anyways help please lol

I don't remember your older posts... is the tank cycled yet? What are your test results. I would get the bigger tank ASAP. When you do I would add the following fish:

3 zebra danios ~ bump up to 8
2 mollys
2 serpaes ~ bump up to 8
2 wag tail platys
1 painted platy
1 ADF
1 gourmi
1 chinese algea eater

You would then be pretty well stocked and your schooling fish would have some buddies :) , you could throw in a few corys of the same kind to add some fish to the bottom. A 44g with stand for 125 is pretty good, I just sold a 50g with a stand and all the accessories on ebay for $230, to give you an idea.

I do not think you are overstocked. Just do the water changes once a weeek in my opinion. You may have 2 to many fish but thats about it. I would throw the cae in the trash and keep the rest. lol caes will terrorize your other fish. When you get your larger tank, se a limit on the amt you are going to put in with your hubby and try to pick out only the fish you really want.
