Gaah I think I've made the classic nooby fish aquariest mistake. I overstocked. Just a little I think.

20 Gallon
8 Black Skirts
5 Bronze Corys
2 Otto's
1 Paradise fish

Though overstocked I think that the arrangement will still work. The corys occupy the bottom of the tank, usually along side the otto's. The black skirts occupy the middle of the tank for the most part and my most recent additon, the paradise fish, stays near the very top by my lilly's. The paradise fish grows to 4 inches I believe. If I see that it is a strain on my bioload I'll consider making a return. All of the occupants currently seem happy.

I could add the 2 Oto's to the 5 gallon with my passive betta? Or would that be an overload for a 5 gal?

For me also, you are right at the line or a step over. Watch your parameters, maybe do twice a week water changes at 30% vice a weekly 25%. Keep conservative on feeding.

And watch for that garage sale on the next tank (30 gal and up).

The only problem I see is the strong likelihood of the paradise discovering how much fun it is to shred the long fins of the black skirts. And you can't put him in with the betta because they'll probably fight (too closely related). Paradise are beautiful, but they're pretty much buttheads, IME.

Would moving those Oto's over help to relieve the load a little bit? (I know oto's don't generally add alot to the bio load of a tank). I'd be moving them so there is more space.

i think your fine the way you are, just keep up the wcs, which are so easy with small tanks they take like a minute. i think 25% twice a week would do, tho the more the better.
