Overstocked?

They only get to about 4", they are very active and fast swimmers, so they will be too fast for the tiger barbs to pick on them if they decide to try and bother them. Some of mine were nippy with smaller fish a time or three, though, so that could be a drawback I guess. I'll revise my vote to lampeye tetras or bleeding heart tetras then.

mayhaps. I had some red eyed tetras, but I returned them because they sorta just hung around in the middle of the tank. I was thinking about going for cardinal tetras as an alternative.
