I am considering putting(all Juvenlies) a Jack Dempsey, Green Terror, and a Firemouth, in a 29G tank i got for xmas. Would this be suitable for their current size, all less than 2"? My friend has quite a large tank with all of these species living in it peacefully, and i know some say that Jack Dempsey would not be compatible with Green Terrors but i have seen them live peacefully before in a number of instances. Please tell me if these fish would be healthy in a tank of this size. Also are pleco's compatible with cichlids, i would rather have something of the ancistrus species, but finding them is quite hard where i live. Thanks for you help in advance.

sounds good for a temperary setup, if they flourish they will outgrow that pretty quick i have learned that one the hard way

are these all fairly young? Because if they all "grow up" together they will be peaceful with each other on most parts.

bad idea unless you will be upgrading to a 72" by 18" tank in a month or two.

Why not get apistos

Agreed, sounds like the wrong choice of fish not only to keep together but in such a small tank. Like was mentioned before, it could probebly be done if you were to get a 100+ gallon tank within a few months.

Are you set on cichlids? There's so many out there from many parts of the world that would fit a 29 gallon tank long-term.

as you can see we all agree this tank is a bit small for these fish but if you really want cichlids you could get a pair of convicts or rams would work nice also mabey even certain african species really look into the fish you want in other words do a little research before purchasing your fish
