Oxiclean, my new best friend

I have some crazy hair algae in a huge ball of java moss...I think I'll give this a try tonight to see if I can clean it out.

This is simply a hydrogen peroxide dip. I would recommend most people simply stick to hydrogen peroxide...I hate for someone to accidentally use Oxi-clean with the power of orange(or whatever) and end up with a lot of surfactant and fragrance in their tank.

Hygrogen Peroxide is readily available at any drug store.

Alternatively, a 3 to 1 dilution of Seachem Excel, mixed into a spray bottle, is a fantastic spot treatment for algae. It'll kill BBA if sprayed on and allowed to sit for 5 minutes during a water change. The BBA turns red nearly instantly, and white(dead) by the next day.

Agreed...Peroxide or, as I listed, the fragrance/dye/additive-free Oxiclean because that's the only one that has just peroxide (which is super-safe because it's just water and O2 after a bit of time) and washing soda as the remnants after use and then I'd still do a good rinse to remove the soda. I would feel bad if someone destroyed their tank over this. I like the Oxiclean because I don't keep gallons of peroxide around the house and had a large stump that needed a full body dip due to BBA, so I thought I'd post this as an alternative to peroxide for those with similar "large object to de-algae" needs. As for a tank update, everything's still looking good and algae free at this point, and the fish are still happy and healthy. Fragrance/dye/additive-free Oxiclean as a dip, not a tank additive, continues to get my endorsement.
