With 24/7 light (such as in refugiums) the plants never start respiration right? They never consume oxygen, just keep up the photosynthesis and keep adding more oxygen than any they may be taking in, right?
I've always heard of sumps with lights on for half the day and lights off. If you have a sump with lights on all day, you have to provide carbon and fertilizers constantly.
Your lights should be on 10-12 hours a day. Leaving them on longer only invites algae.
