P-Low's Aquatic Log

I dont really have any input on your situation because everyone has pretty much taken care of everything.

I did want to comment however on your english. I just wanted to say for being a guy from japan your english is very very good. Makes me almost question my own grammar and english.

Are you using a translation program or are you just fluent in english as well?

And welcome to the forums!

First off Let me say, Hello. I'm Paul. I live in Japan and have been here now for over 7+ years, 30 years old, married.

Hahaha. I have been living in Japan for over 7 years, I'm from New Jersey and my native language is English, I am also pretty fluent in Japanese as well.

Update:
I just snuck home and did a water change. My co-worker, I just found out, runs all the tanks in our work place. There were two more here I had never seen!! Hahaha. He's a real pro too. He is going to lend me his water testing kit tomorrow. I'm excited and I'm also curious to know what levels I have going on in my tank right now.

Haha. Well sorry for the misinterpretation.

Which do you seem to like better? The states or japan?

The fuzzy stuff looks like algae, though the pic isn't very high quality.

The canister filter is a good idea BUT if you remove your current filter (assuming it is cycled) you will crash your tank. Removing the filter removes all of your biological filtration which is what keeps your ammonia and nitrites at 0, or at least low.
Test your water, if you are showing nitrites or nitrates already I would not remove the filter. In this case you will have to use both the canister filter and the current filter on the tank together, which is fine as long as it doesn't cause so much current that your fish can't swim good.

Update

Hello everyone.

My tank is doing and fine and the population is happy.

I have since increased the population and plants, but today decided to take the two colored black Tetras to a mom and pop fish shop I recently found in Saku City, called Nettaigyou Pet Kobayashi. They happily accepted and I left with 5 Green Neon Tetras.

Also in the shop I found the coolest mini aquarium set which they are selling for 9,800 yen. Its 60 centimeters wide but only a few cementers high and long. Comes with a 60cm light and micro undergravel filter. The thing is so cute its ridiculous.

Now where could I put that . . .

I dont think ive seen anything that long and narrow here in the states... sounds kinda cool.... i'm trying to think what fish, besides a Betta Splendens would like living in that tank. Would you say its about a decemeter high and wide? Six liter tank or so?
