PacMan Frogs

I just started a PacMan in a 8 gallon, and am told my set-up for him is perfect.

However, what I worry about is feeding. These guys get big enough to be fed mice, which I really don't like. If fed lots of crickets and larger insects, do you all think he'd be able to keep without the mice?

I only feed the one I work with crickets, as we don't sell mice. He's pretty big too. There are frozen mice people can sometimes get critters to eat, but otherwise just stick to crickets and just give him more. I'm not a big fan of frogs myself so I don't know a lot, just the ones I work with.

You could always try some small feeder fish when he is bigger. He will do fine without mice, Try to very diet and supplment with correct vitamins/minerals

Theres no need to ever feed him pinkie mice. If he gets plenty of insect variety everything will be fine. Just remember to add vitamin supplements once in a while.

another reason not to feed mice is that the frogs sometimes get blindness as a result of "lipid buildup on the corneas...a diet high in fat (such as pinkie mice) has been implicated." That quote was from Reptile Keeper's Guides: The horned Frog Family and African Bullfrogs by R.D. Bartlett

When I had my pac mac frog he was almost the size of a soft ball and I fed him a variety of crickets and mice. The mice bones and fur provide the proper calcium needed so they dont develop a bone disorder.

if you don't wanna feed mice, just be sure to dust the crix/insects with calcium (as well as other vits periodically) so that he doesn't develop metabolic bone disease...

do you have any pics of your set up? i'm trying to get ideas - i've got an extra 10G tank, and I wanna either get a pacman frog or do a RCS only tank... =)
