paint ball guns?

Maybe that's the 'proper instruction' part. It's a hard thing to find these days because the public at large has become so afraid of guns.

I don't mean to s**t disturb, but isn't a good thing that people are afraid of guns? Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding your meaning. Upon a little thought, your post could be interpreted in different ways...

No, I don't think so. Guns should be respected for the dangerous machines that they are, but they shouldn't be feared any more than an SUV. Without training and experience, either one can end your life pretty quickly.

Many people these days, for whatever reason, grow up without having training and first-hand experience with guns or even having an understanding of how they function. Their entire perception of guns comes from TV and movies that portray guns as magical hand-held devices that transform ordinary citizens into super heros who mete out their own brand of justice at will. Naturally, we fear what we don't understand.

I'm not afraid of guns. I keep a Beretta 92FS Inox loaded with Federal 9mm +P EFMJ at the head of my bed and carry a Kel-Tec P32 every day (upgrading that soon). I'm afraid of unqualified people handling guns. They're dangerous.

EDIT: Since this isn't really related to this thread, let's start a new thread if you want to discuss this further. Just as long as it doesn't turn into a heated argument though :) I know it can be a touchy subject.

I carry a Keltec P32 also. ;) The weapon in my head board is a ParaOrdinace P10. .45 caliber holds 10shots in the mag and one in the chamber. Loaded with Hydra-Shok HP +p

With fear also comes curiosity. When you teach kids to respect guns and the proper use of one with supervision, the curiosity goes away. I will be teaching my kids (when I have some) proper gun safety.

Relating to paintball guns, I think it's worth a discussion with them about general gun safety if they haven't been exposed to them before.
