can you use craft paint on fish tank decorations...it says permanant fast drying water based acrylic paint???

from my own experience, if it states 'water based' then it WILL eventually dissolve in water. I wouldnt do it!
I would not. Most craft paints, even if they are non-toxic, are not designed to be submerged. Within a few months, it will most likely start cracking and flaking--huge mess, and a pain to clean out of gravel and filters.
i got a little neon cave thing at walmart and my cories love it but i want a more natural tank so i wanted to paint it gray.
What would be the best thing to paint the back glass an aquarium with? I don't want to use a background, and I've seen some of the acrylics with solid black backgrounds thought it might work on my glass aquarium. I've use poster paper and at Christmas I used Christmas wrapping paper to match my Christmas Aquarium decorations. I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks, Jallen
I know you said you don't want a background, but oceanvisions makes an adhesive vynal background that you cannot tell from a good paint job, and it's much easier to apply/ remove later. They make it in multiple solid colors, no cheesy prints. I use black, I used to use paint and swore by it, but really love the oceanvisions stuff. I really don't know what paint is best, I used good old fashioned interior enamel abck when I was using paint. I never put much thought into it since It was on the outside of the tank, and I was relatively free of funds back then.
