Has anyone done this sort of thing before?

I've come across regulators that attach to Paintball CO2 tanks, are they any good?

Has anyone done a DIY for these systems yet? My understanding with pressurized CO2 is that you need 2 regulators to drop the 800 PSI from liquid CO2, to the lower 60 psi, and again with an Low Pressure Regulator, lowered even more. It's also recommended to have a needle valve, and a bubble counter.

I have a background in CO2, and pressurized air as a paintball player for 8 years. With the LPR, is there really a need for the needle valve and the bubble counter?

I'd love to construct something from my left-over paintball equipment. I have CO2 tanks, inline regulators(drops pressure from 800 to 200, adjustable), LPR's, air-tubing, barbs, etc.

Thanks,
Shawn

they make aquarium co2 regulators specifically for paintball canisters.

you need to drop the tank pressure down to about 10-20PSI, then run it through the needle valve to control flow into the reactor...

no matter what you do, you'll need the needle valve, and the bubble counter is nearly a must have also.

Paintball regs usually have an inlet that is connected by macroline, from the ASA(Air Supply Adapter). The ASA threads onto the CO2 tank, and there's an on-off valve on some of the ASA's. The inline reg will then drop the pressure down from 800 psi. Here's where the problem lies. In order for the inline reg to hook up with an LPR, some kind of manafold will be required. A medium for both regs to thread onto. I don't have such a manafold.

Instead, you can adapt a paintball CO2 tank for use with a welding regulator, by using the Smartpart On/Off.
