painting the outside glass of the aquarium

That's probably enamel paint as it can withstand high heats. IMO I wouldn't use that for a fish tank, unless you plan on never taking it off :)

I never planned/expected to, but good point. That wouldn't be a good choice for someone not sure they want to do it or not. I personally love tanks with the back painted black, so would never change it.

I just took a look at your member page and your tanks are amazing. I can't wait until you have pics of them all on there.

Try acrylic and aquaium silicon sealer.

I picked up a scrap piece of acrylic from a local sign shop for FREE! They gave me a 20" x 50" piece of blue. Use some silicon sealer and attached it to the outside rear. Ran a small bead of sealer on the edges and you can't tell looking at it from the front.

Melamine or Formica (laminates) are a great idea too, Vic21. I never thought of that. I may end-up taking my acrylic of and going that route. Very good suggestion, I like it. I think I would stick with the silicon sealer instead of duct tape.

Duct Tape

Yea Butttttttttttttttttt I am a Canadian and duct tape is very near to my heart. Check out the Red Green Show. Duct tape is called the handyman's secret weapon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers;

My wife's uncle paints backgrounds on stock that is the size of the back of the tank - he changes them to suit his moods!

Thank you!

Some of those pics are "old". I've just replanted the 65g Silver Dollar tank with more anubias and floated some hornwort. The 75g Boesemani tank is getting a total face-lift this week and so are the rest of the tanks.

I picked up 4 Glossolepis wanamensis this afternoon and have a shipment of 6 more coming from CA tomorrow. That's it for fish for me for a while :)

I think . . . there's just ONE more rainbowfish . .well, TWO more that I really want :)

Pictures soon :)

^what rainbow is that in your avitar? looks kind of like mines...they are getting more color as they grow!

But i plan on painting the back and sides with black latex. Dose it show up any brush strokes?
