Pairing clowns

My female sadly has become a widow after being happily paired for 2 1/2 years. I want to get her a new partner but just wanted to check in and see if there's anything else I need to know. I know that I need to get a smaller male (though not too small) and that it'll take a few days for them to figure out their dominance issues. There are plenty of places for a smaller clown to go to hide that my female can't get into if he needs to... Anything else I need to prepare for the new guy?

Also, my female is a regular ocellaris clown. I'm planning on getting a black ocellaris to pair her with. There shouldn't be any problems mixing the color morphs right? Is there anything else I need to know? How soon should I do it? Thanks in advance for your help!

There is no problem with getting a different coloured clown, an ocellaris is an ocellaris no matter what colour it is. I had a female black paired with an orange and they were fine together.

As long as the male is a male and smaller than the female it should be fine.
